My name is Ayo Ogunleye, Planning and Program Lead with Executive Council Office (ECO). I've been working with GPEI for approximately 21 months now.
My experience in the internship program was great. I had the opportunity to learn new skills, work on challenging projects, and network with folks across government. In addition to this, I was also able to participate in several professional development programs that have helped me become a better professional. I would not have my current role if I hadn't gone through the internship program. Without the internship, I would not have had the opportunity to work in ECO and learn the skills needed to conduct the responsibilities of my current role.
My advice to anyone entering a career in Government would be to take ownership of your work. By being proactive and finding solutions to problems, you'll learn a lot very quickly and build skills you didn't even know existed!
