My name is Benjamin Morrissey, and I am a Policy Officer Intern, I began my current position in September 2023 but have been working seasonally as a student since 2021.
My current position as a policy officer intern is somewhat similar to my past roles as a summer student. Most of my duties relate to research and analysis to support policy development. However, through the internship program there is much opportunity for professional development which is a new feature. The PSC hosts information sessions and often advocates for interns to seek skill boosting classes and sessions.
The feeling that your work may contribute to helping everyday Islanders. Policy impacts everyone. Sound policy can positively impact all people if it is developed with adequate research and implementation. Bearing that in mind often gives a sense of pride.
